Housing Design Accolade for Craigmillar’s ParcLife Homes

Posted on 15 Oct 2010

PARC’s Wauchope Square housing development in Craigmillar, Edinburgh has been recognised by The Saltire Society 2010 Housing Design Awards.

Wauchope Square Phase 7, designed by architects Elder and Cannon and built by housing developer Lovell, was commended in the Large Scale Housing Development category at an awards ceremony in Edinburgh. The accolade was presented by Scottish Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop MSP.

The homes at Wauchope Square Phase 7 are among the 3,000 new homes being delivered as part of the £200 million regeneration of Craigmillar, spearheaded by PARC. Adjacent to the new joint campus primary school, the development comprises 23 properties, which includes two and three bed houses, all with private gardens and parking. The homes in Phase 7 are now completely sold out.

PARC’s Operations Director, Eric Adair, said: “This is an excellent accolade for Craigmillar and we’re delighted that Wauchope Square Phase 7 has been recognised in these prestigious industry awards. PARC is committed to delivering high quality new homes in Craigmillar and Elder and Cannon and Lovell have created attractive, contemporary houses that offer new owners an exceptional bright and spacious living environment.”

John Docherty, project director at Elder and Cannon said: “We are delighted that PARC’s ambition to create high quality, innovative housing has been recognised in this way. From the outset their focus has been on the creation of a successful and dynamic community for Craigmillar, and the project supports this through a rich mix of distinctive house types, each taking a fresh approach to standard family housing and contributing to a very welcoming and attractive streetscape.”

Alan Taylor, regional director at Lovell, said: “This important commendation underlines the high standards achieved at this development. We are very proud to have worked with PARC and Elder and Cannon to help deliver these desirable new properties.”
